I have signed the pledge because I know that calm, courageous attention to the truth is what moves our society and communities ahead, one step at a time. In this time of widespread anxiety - some real, much manufactured - our best solutions arise from working with what IS. As a candidate for Oregon Senate District 26, which covers rural portions of four counties in sight of Mt. Hood, my job is to listen so I can represent people from across the political spectrum. I build bridges between red and blue, including the middle. This makes me a deep-purple candidate. I know process (how we talk with one another is as important as content (what we say). I strive to treat people with respect and avoid shaming when it comes to political issues. There is always more to learn - for all of us. Being a person of faith, plus having a degree in math and experience as a science teacher, inspire me to live out this pledge with integrity each day.
